    Magenta Systems File Transfer Components

Magenta Systems File Transfer Components comprise three Delphi components, TMagFtp, TMagHttp and TMagFileCopy, the first two of which are high level descendants of the ICS FTP Client and HTTP Client components, all allowing transfer of multiple files and subdirectories with a single function call.

The three components handle file listing from FTP, HTTP and disk volumes, and multiple file copying. They also include optional zipping or unzipping (requires TVCLZip component). There are numerous options available, including copying only newer files, deleting old target files, deletion after transfer, resumed failed FTP downloads and uploads, and a progress events with various levels of information for logging or display, depending upon application requirements that allows transfers to be cancelled. FTP and file copying supports files larger than 2 gigs (64-bit).

A simple demonstration program that illustrates all major functionality. End user help is available describing most of the functionality in Magenta Systems DUN Manager application (from http://www.magsys.co.uk/dunman/), look under Scheduled Task Properties, FTP General, FTP Common, FTP Upload, FTP Download. HTTP Download and Sync Files. DUN Manager also provides a compiled test application for the components, using all functions (but DUN
Manager source code is not available).

    Magenta Systems Mail Queue Component

Magenta Systems Mail Queue Component is designed to add robust email capability to applications that need to report alerts, errors, etc. The component uses a disk queue to allow repeated mail attempts of multiple emails using multiple mail servers over many hours or days, to ensure mail is always delivered. The component needs François Piette's internet component suite (ICS) version 8 and supports SSL and HTML mail.

The TMagMailQueue component has two main benefits over a simple ICS TSslSmtpCli component: it supports extended retries over many hours or days, and supports multiple SMTP relay servers, while alleviating the need for the application to handle retries. The component also allows HTML mail to be sent using SSL, something THtmlSmtpCli does not currently support. Mail is queued to disk, so retries will continue if the application is restarted.

Preparing the email is done using the ICS THtmlSmtpCli component so it may be plain text or HTML email with one or more file attachments. Once the mail properties in QuHtmlSmtp have been specified, it is queued using the QueueMail method which saves it to an EML spool file.

The component runs a thread which checks the queue for new EML spool files, and attempts to forward them to one or more SMTP Mail Servers using TSslSmtpCli, optionally with SSL. If mail delivery succeeds, the spool file may be deleted or moved to an archive folder. If mail delivery fails, the spool file remains in the queue and further attempts are made separated by the times in minutes listed in the RetryList list. If all delivery attempts fail, the spool file may be deleted or moved to a badmail folder.

Magenta Systems Code Signing Trust and Certificate Check

SignProg functions are designed for Code Signing, aka Microsoft Authenticode. Currently just two functions that check if an EXE, DLL or CAB file has a valid code signing certificate, that the certificate is trusted and that the program is not corrupted. These functions were written to support an remote program updater tool, to ensure the new program was not corrupted, but may also be used to self test a Delphi application for image corruption.

ProgVerifyTrust - simple function to check code signing certificate exists and is valid and not expired, and the program image is not corrupted. This should work with Windows 2000 and later (which have wintrust.dll).

ProgVerifyCert - similar to ProgVerifyTrust, but also extracts the certificate information, names, dates, etc. But this function needs
capicom.dll COM object to be installed (from which the CAPICOM_TLB type library is reated), which is a free redistributable file, included with this code.

Microsoft claims Capicom is deprecated with Windows 7, but the DLL still works. You need to register the COM object by running 'regsvr32.exe capicom.dll'.

A Windows demonstration application TRUSTCHK.EXE is supplied, with source and compiled program. A directory signed-samples includes several programs to test checking signatures, trustnone.exe is nsigned, trustbad.exe is deliberately corrupted, trustexpired.cab has an expired certificate, trustodd.exe has an untrusted self signed certificate, trustok.exe is valid.

This distribution includes Capicom 2.1.0.2 with numerous example source demos (none Pascal) and a tools directory with various Microsoft executable code signing tools, of which signcode.exe is the one actually used to a sign a program, demonstrated by signtest.bat command file. An old test certificate is included, but developers really need to buy their own Authenticode Code Signing Certificate from Verisign, Thawte or other vendors.

Supports both VCL Win32 and Win64, but there is no 64-bit version of
capicom.dll so some functionality is not available.

Magenta Systems IP Log Streaming Component

Magenta Systems IP Log Streaming Component is designed for IP stream logging, using TCP Client, TCP Server, UDP Client or UDP Server protocols, sending simple text lines across a network so they may be displayed or written to disk remotely. The component allows two way communication with TCP and UDP, so may also be used for simple protocols such as communication between two applications. The component supports multiple client sockets so may be used to send data to two or more different remote servers at the same time.

For TCP and UDP clients, the component will optionally ping the remote computer first before opening an IP connection to allow faster failure retries and some confirmation that UDP may work. TCP client provides repeated connection retry attempts, including re-establishing a lost connection. UDP client will optionally keep pinging the remote during a connection to ensure it's still there. UDP server sends data to the IP address and port from which it last received data. TCP server supports multiple remote clients connecting. Received data is parsed for various line endings optionally removing control characters and triggering an event for a received line.

The only other two events are optional, one for state changed when starting and stopping, the second offering progress information and errors.

A demo application testiplog.exe illustrates use of TMagIpLog as a TCP or UDP client or server, and both in the same program sending data locally.

The same component may be used in a client or server application, to send or receive.

The component needs François PIETTE internet component suite (ICS) version 6, 7 or 8 from http://www.overbyte.be/.

Supports both VCL Win32 and Win64.
