One of the new features of Delphi XE8 is Get-it, a simple download tool that offers freeware components. Sadly it's also a half-done thing like so much other things in Delphi XE8. But anyways.

Get-it contains components for Delphi and CBuilder. That's why most of the icons are twice in the list. The funny thing is, you will get the same source code in different folders. The only different is that some hpp files are newer than the hpp files inside the delphi folder, but both folder contains the same project files for Delphi and CBuilder. Under the line it's a new mechanism to waste free space.

Everyone who needs the Delphi related stuff should download the components with the Delphi icons. The compilation and installation will work as far as the Delphi personality is loaded. It was not possible to install certain CBuilder related stuff, because of the compilation fails - I was too lazy to look why. Again, both folders, for Delphi and CBuilder, contains the same stuff, this means the same source files, the same project files for Delphi and CBuilder.

These are the components that can be currently downloaded for free.

    Code:
    Abbrevia-10.0
    AsyncPro-1.0
    Boost-1.39_1.55 (only binaries for CBuilder!)
    Essentials-1.0
    LockBox-2.0
    LockBox-3.5.0
    OnGuard-1.0
    OnGuardFMX-1.0
    Orpheus-4.0.8
    PowerPDF-1.0
    SynEdit-1.0
    SysTools-4.04
    VirtualTreeView-5.5

Below are the links to components. Sadly the all-in-file was rejected and therefore it was splitted into smaller archive files.

    Note
These components are prepared for Delphi XE8, but it should be possible to use them with older Delphi Versions. In this case the project files needs to be adapted. The future will show if Embarcadero will maintain these components too. At least this will be a enormous work with two major releases every year. And this means every developer needs to download one or more components every major release again and again. This is an absolute bad point.

Useless to say that this components could be found on other places, because of they are free available. Also it's maybe more comfortable to update them with SVN, GIT or any similar Version Control Tool. The only advantage could be, maybe it's possible to get updated versions at the same time when an new major release is available.

    Manual Installation
The project files for Delphi are always inside the folder "Packages\Delphi". Just open the project group and compile the packages. Sometimes it's necessary to switch over from Debug to Release. The binaries will be created inside the folder "Packages\Delphi\Win32\Release" or "Packages\Delphi\Win32\Debug". This depends on the used configuration. Don't forget to update the paths.

Everone who is too lazy to do the things manually, just use the tool "Get-it" from inside of the IDE. Please remember, this is a feature of Delphi XE8.
